Enabling Enhanced Conversions for Microsoft Ads

Metrion supports enhanced conversions for Microsoft (Bing) Ads. Because Microsoft requires enhanced conversions to be turned on at the conversion goal level, setup happens in two places: the sync setting in Metrion, and the conversion goal setting in Microsoft Ads.

How it works

When you add a sync in Metrion, the enhanced setting on that sync determines which conversion goals get created in Microsoft Ads:

• Enhanced setting disabled: only the ClickBased conversion goal is created.

• Enhanced setting enabled: all three conversion goals are created — ClickBased, Enhanced, and Untagged.

You don't need to create these conversion goals yourself. Metrion creates them automatically using a fixed naming convention.

The Metrion setting only controls which goals exist. Whether user data (hashed email/phone) actually gets sent to a goal depends on that specific goal's own "Enhanced Conversions" setting inside Microsoft Ads.

Step 1: Add or update the sync in Metrion

Add your Microsoft Ads sync in Metrion and enable the enhanced setting if you want enhanced conversions. This is what triggers Metrion to create the Enhanced and Untagged conversion goals in Microsoft Ads.

Step 2: Turn on Enhanced Conversions in Microsoft Ads

Once the sync has run and the conversion goals exist:

1. Log in to your Microsoft Advertising account and go to Conversions > Conversion goals.

2. Open the Enhanced conversion goal, find the Enhanced Conversions step, and select Turn on Enhanced Conversions.

3. Repeat for the Untagged conversion goal.

4. Read and accept Microsoft's terms of use and privacy policy for enhanced conversions.

5. Save the goal.

Only turn this on for the Enhanced and Untagged goals. Do not turn on Enhanced Conversions for the ClickBased goal. If you do, Microsoft will start receiving user data for that goal too, which isn't intended.

That's it. No additional configuration is needed on the Metrion side beyond the sync's enhanced toggle.
